"Venice Italy 2023"

2023 was a very difficult shoot due to the weather. While I did have some sunny moments, I spent a lot of time shooting with one hand and holding an umbrella with the other. I did my best to stay in the game, but I often found myself ducking into the nearest Cafe or Trattoria for some food and drink.

At one point I felt that the trip had become more about the food and wine than photography. At one bar I asked for a cafe and ended up learning how to drink espresso martinis!

During the 10 days, I made a day trip over to Vicenza and another day trip to Burano Island. On Burano I had a half day of blue skies, light, and shadows before the rain returned. I believe that Burano is worth at least two full days. It has the most beautifully painted buildings.

I have spent two and a half weeks in post production and have came up with the first eight images, which I share now. I'll let it rest for a couple of months, and then I'll revisit the shots that hit the cut room floor.
